OSBridge: The Conference for Open Source Citizens
It’s true — I’ve been super swamped with work and volunteer projects. So much so that i haven’t even been able to write here and share what i’ve been working on. But I did want to take a few moments and talk about Open Source Bridge, a new technology conference happening here in Portland next month.
Open Source Bridge isn’t your typical technical conference:
- It’s 100% volunteer-run by your fellow open source developers and technologists.
- Session tracks are “technology agnostic,” and instead focused on shared community experiences and problem-solving.
- The hacking doesn’t end: there’s a 24-hour hacker lounge for code-sprints, bug hunting or just hanging out.
So if you’re an open source developer, or anyone else who is interested in adopting the open source way, consider attending OS Bridge. You’ll have a chance to learn some new skills, network with really talented folks, and explore what it means to be an “Open Source Citizen.” And, if you’re not from Portland, you’ll get to hang out for a few days in a really great town.
The conference is super affordable — registration is only $250 for all three days. It’s happening from June 17 to June 19th.
Some of the talks I’m looking forward to the most are:
- Bootstrapping Your Open Source Business
- Drupal, What is it Good For?
- Project Management Should be Boring!
- Using virtualization and automation to improve your web development workflow
- Faking It Til I Make It: A Woman On The Fringe Of Open Source
- Your Shell History In The Cloud
- Programming patterns in sed
I’ve seen versions of the following talks and highly recommend them:
Also, I’m giving two talks at the conference: Open Source Tools for Freelancers and Re-factor Your Brain: Meditation for Geeks.
I hope to see you there!
